At the End of Days, St Michael descends for the final battle. Instead of his expected foe, he finds he is in an abandoned and ruined church, confronted by a bank of internet servers. The premise of this work poses the question of the continuing abandonment of old beliefs and religious disciplines in the endless pursuit of life on the internet, where the companies who dominate social media and consumerism arguably know more about what is in our hearts than God. The new enemy confronting St Michael, therefore, is tenuous but deadly – the Internet itself. Awarded features in five separate galleries on the Fine Art America website. This is an original free-hand painting carried out on a Wacom graphics tablet.
